Served in Coldstream Guards as Captain: signals, tank regiment, culminating in D-Day landings and active service in France and Belgium

Married Denise Godefroi (March)

Briefly studied architecture at The Architectural Association, then became a full-time painter

Moved from London to Wickstreet House, near Stroud in Gloucestershire

In the 1950s and 1960s he exhibited in London, notably The John Whibley Gallery in Cork Street, and The Brotherton Gallery.  From the 1960s onwards, he exhibited at home
